Iselis 2011 Project
The Iselis Project came into being from the wish of the Argiolas family to create “a dream garden”, giving life to a series of initiatives aimed at helping people who live in difficult areas in the world. This charity project takes its name from Iselis, a white and a red wine, part of the latest production of the Argiolas Winery. The programme aims at implementing a different project each year, in line with each Iselis vintage, working side by side with humanitarian organisations working in the territory. In 2011 Argiolas will still be concentrating its efforts on the Bibwa Medical Centre, going ahead with the finishing touches, such as the construction of a perimeter wall with a gate to protect the structure and the installation of a renewable energy plant in the form of solar panels to provide electricity which at the moment the Centre – and indeed the whole of Bibwa – is without. Plans are also in hand to set in place water supply pipes – at the present time water is drawn by buckets from a well. New equipment will be procured, including gurneys, an operating table, and a refrigerator for medicines to be stored at low temperature. Over the next year, the dispensary will become the point of reference for distribution of medicines to the whole district of Bibwa. Essential drugs will be distributed free to the most needy families.
